Dormer in Roof Plane with Flat Roof
Modelling is a creative activity and often requires an approach that may not be already documented. Let us know if you have a method you want to share. We have 2 (though there are probably more) ways to make Roof-plane Dormers:
1. Quick and simple, so long as you only need external views.
2. More complex but gives a correct interior model.
Method 1.
Typical (simplified) Flat-roof Dormer built into the main roof plane.
1. Establish the lower edge height of the dormer roof in this instance 1800.00mm (above the roof line marked as 0)
In STOREYS set the height of this dormer edge as a Level. (In this example we are setting the main roof at 0 although in practice it will be the actual height above ground level).
2. Paste the Plan for PCadd.
Tips
We do not trim to Walls in this version. If you need to nestle a roof up to a wall just draw it as tho it is next to the wall before using extend tool.
