Extrude

Extrude settings are controlled by a Floating Inspector. All aspects of the Extrude are generated here.

Extrudes are parametric and can be changed on the fly!

Extrude uses a polygon to do its work. The most effective way on starting from PCadd is to use a filled polygon. This can then be pasted into PLAN or Elevation. In PLAN they are simply extruded with a Fixed length. The Interactive button allows great control over your PCadd drawing; by selecting 2 points in the PLANlength and angle of the extrusion can be calculated from the distance and angle of the the 2 points.

This Pergola was made entirely by extrusion.

Steps for creating an Interactive Extrude

  1. Paste a polygon to extrude into an Elevation. S or E
  2. Double click or Option Click the Extrude Tool.
  3. Select Interactive, and height above storey if required.
  4. Ensure this polygon is selected
  5. In PLAN select 2 points to create length and angle to extrude.
  6. The Extrude is performed at the first point selected while length and angle are taken from the second point.

Select a polygon to extrude in the 3D window or South/West Elevation.

The polygon does not have to be in position relative to its final location. Position and angle are set during the following step ...

In PLAN select 2 points to determine the length and angle of the extrusion. This sets..

  • Height, relative to storey.
  • Length.
  • Angle of the extrusion.

Finally extrude. Note the angle and distance are as taken from snap 1 and snap 2.

Steps for creating a Fixed Extrude.

  1. Double click or Option Click the Extrude Tool.
  2. Select Fixed, and height above storey if required.
  3. Select a poly to extrude in the Plan, 3D window or East/West Elevation and then click APPLY.
  4. You can also apply a rotation to the fixed extrude.

Polygons and filled polygons can be selected in the 3D window as they are considered to be 3D objects.
